First off caulk should be used on the exterior sparingly. Second, cheap caulk stains and yellows. This caulk should have only been applied to the joint and have been of a high stain-proof grade. Who gave this man a caulk gun?
This chimney cap was left leaking which caused water buildup and eventual deterioration of the chimney block. Most contractors will just tuck point all cracks but in order to appropriately fix vertical cracks in block epoxy must be use to add back structural integrity.
Not only did this contractor fail build out behind the mosaic tile to make it set plane with the wall tile, they tried to cover their mistake with grout then did not use a great grout release technique leaving a complete mess.
Customer was complaining about a draft and her contractor was very thorough.
This is a masonry wall of a million dollar home built by one of Peoria’s finest builders. The vertical brick joint varies widely as if the second string was put in to finish the top half of the wall. While this doesn’t constitute an imminent failure the workmanship is still very poor.
